Planes Companies And Extreme Makeover: Home Edition Move Family Into Dream Home

WEST CHESTER, OH – Planes Companies, a top agent for United Van Lines, performed moving services for the Akers, a West Chester family and winners of a new Extreme Makeover: Home Edition home. Planes and 15 movers and packers donated services, trucks, supplies, and storage space to the project. “Our crews eagerly volunteered to work on this move. Knowing we can help one of our local families with our services is truly inspiring,” said Craig English, Corporate Vice President of Planes Companies.

On July 10, Planes packed and loaded approximately 18,000 lbs. of the Akers’ belongings in under five hours. The items were stored in the Planes warehouse during the demolition and construction phases of the new home and delivered on July 15.

Greg and Ginger Akers’ son Christian, 9, suffers from Crohn’s Disease while their two daughters, Brooke, 7, and Faith, 3, are wheelchair dependent due to Spinal Muscular Atrophy. Their previous home was not wheelchair accessible, making daily life extremely difficult for the family. The new home was constructed around the Akers children’s needs.

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition welcomed the Akers to their new home on Thursday, July 17. The episode is set to air this fall on ABC, Sundays 8/7c.
